Spring displays her beauty with an explosion of color while her most profound work shifts the paradigm about the nature of growth.  

Growth isn’t fast or visible at first, but rather a quiet, faithful surrender to what is seeded beneath the surface.

In nature nothing is stagnant. Seeds break open and there is courage in that act. They dispense with their casings without knowing what awaits them above ground. Nourished seeds cultivate with nothing but faith and trust.



I think spring asks the same of us—to break with what has held us in one phase so we may advance to another despite the uncertainty. We must trust that something within us knows the way.

We’re deeply attached to knowing things because we walk around with access to a world of information and answers conveniently in our hands. But it’s not the same thing as having wisdom or rituals of care to aid our self-reflection and personal growth.



Does the acorn know it will become a tree? Somehow the sunflower knows to face the sun. As Steve Jobs once observed, we can only connect the dots looking backward. Nothing meaningful begins with clarity or certainty.



Faith and trust are not options, they are the path. They are spring's gifts.

Like seeds, we too must push forward and emerge without knowing exactly what or how we will become.
