equinox tools🌓 for a smooth autumn reset🍂

There is so much coming at us right now which makes it hard to balance everyday demands and persistent uncertainty.

But this week a remarkable and certain threshold will occur in the Northern Hemisphere—the autumn equinox. It's one of only two moments in the year when light holds still before it shifts.

It is our invitation to pause and change too.

Across time and many cultures our ancestors developed ceremonial rituals to pause and honor the turning of the season.

They paid close attention because their survival depended upon reading clues from the natural world—when to plant, what to preserve, when to harvest and how to prepare for colder, darker days ahead.

Nature still speaks… We just don't always listen but our skin does.

Skin lives at the threshold between our inner and outer worlds—a boundary and a bridge, a protection and a connection.

While our heart beats safely within our chest and our brain is protected inside our skull, skin lives on the frontier—the place where our biology literally encounters the world.

Skin meets it all—sun, wind, heat, cold, water, and touch.

It senses and responds, protects and regulates, and adjust to all of these even when our attention is elsewhere.

Cultures marked seasonal thresholds with rituals of gathering, gratitude, reflection and preparation to remind us that we human beings aren't separate from nature. Our bodies are active participants in it.

These rituals are not relics of the past. They are inherited technologies of survival, passed down to preserve our inner peace when the world around changes.

So take a moment to pause and rediscover a sense of awe for the profound and marvelous masterpiece of nature that is the body.

Go beyond scrutinizing your face to inhabit something far more essential: your amazing body.

Light a candle, take a few intentional breaths. Ground your senses with a slow bath or shower infused with seasonal botanicals like rosemary or sage and engage in the ancient ritual of anointing yourself with rich, lipid-replenishing oils.

Let’s pick up these simple tools of light, breath, nature, water, touch and oils passed to us and intentionally step across autumn's threshold with a renewed commitment to your best “you-to-be”.
